Covergence launches subscription UC solution
Covergence, better known for software solutions, has announced the launch of the Covergence Collaboration Gateway (CCG) for streamlining the use of united communications platforms such as Microsoft OCS and IBM Lotus Sametime. CCG is being offered in subscription form, a different business model than the company has used in the past.
CCG is being touted to increase communication and collaboration by remedying interoperability issues experienced by businesses using multiple platforms while providing security for the company to protect and extend investments in UC.
Rod Hodgman, co-founder of Covergence and VP of marketing, said CCG allows customers to control their migration to a company-wide standard operating system.
"A lot of companies are faced with a rip-and-replace scenario with multiple, incompatible communications systems," Hodgman said. "We provide the customer with a cost-effective alternative to a big operating expenses check for new systems."
Hodgman said a company with 4,000 users could pay as little as $1 per month, per user, for a three-year subscription to CCG. The price of the subscription decreases with lengthier commitments and larger user bases.
"The scale of the subscription really won't affect delivery time, either," Hodgman said. "CCG is largely automated, and it examines and reformats voice packets through both active and domino directories. A company with 4,000 users could expect operability in around 60 days."
