It's been a whirlwind tour this week, but I'll stop for a moment and pull my thoughts together from my first day at AstriCon. You can see some of the snapshots of people, companies and places of AstriCon in a newly posted slide show here.

Earlier in the week, I was in San Francisco visiting with MetaSwitch at its Alameda office and sitting down for dinner in Sunnyvale with executives from DiVitas Networks.  Tuesday, I saw a pair of keynotes at Streaming Media West and followed it up with a strong dose of meetings; you can see the pictures and stories over at Fierce Online Video if you're interested.

Today, Danny Windham and his merry gang had to do a bit of last minute shuffling. Brian Aker of MySQL was scheduled to deliver the morning keynote, but he was stranded somewhere in Minnesota due to airline/weather issues. Windham was up late last night with a brain trust consisting of CTO Mark Spencer, VP of Product Management Bill Miller, and Steve "I do a lot of things around here" Sokol to pull together a replacement presentation mapping out what Asterisk users have to look forward to in the coming months and quarters.

Tomorrow, (well, today, when this appears in your inbox) Digium is supposed to make a Big Partner Announcement. It'll be interesting to see who it is.  I'd love to speculate some more, but I have another story or two to write and a sleep deficit to pay down.

- Doug
